Shani Jones, J.D.
As a mediator, my goal is to create a space where people feel heard, understand their options, and can work through important decisions in a practical and respectful way.
My background is a mix of law, public affairs, policy, and family-focused legal work. I earned my Bachelor of Science in Public Affairs Management from Indiana University Indianapolis and my Juris Doctor from Mitchell Hamline School of Law. Over the years, I have worked in areas involving CHINS and Termination of Parental Rights matters, family law, governance, and policy analysis. Those experiences gave me a close look at how legal issues can affect families far beyond the courtroom.
I have completed domestic violence training through the Indiana Coalition Against Domestic Violence, along with mediation training through the Indiana Continuing Legal Education Forum and additional training through the Indiana Mediation Hub. That training has helped me develop a thoughtful approach to issues involving communication, safety, power imbalances, and family dynamics.
I started Elevate Mediation Group because I wanted to offer families a more approachable way to work through conflict. Mediation often happens during stressful, emotional, and uncertain times. I believe people deserve a process that is clear, organized, and respectful, without making an already difficult situation feel harder than it needs to be.
My role is not to take sides or tell anyone what decision to make. Instead, I help keep the conversation productive, make sure each person has an opportunity to participate, and help families explore solutions that fit their unique circumstances.
For me, mediation is about more than reaching an agreement. It is about helping people move forward with more clarity, more confidence, and a better understanding of what comes next.
